Who I am
2.3.2023.jpg

I last updated this text on April 1, 2022, so it seems to be time for a new update…

I am Satu-Marianne Piispa, the mother of two adult children, a painter of the edge of heaven, a community artist, and a musician. Much more as well, of course, but in relation to this blog, perhaps most of all the above.

I have worked in the social services sector and in media, and creativity has accompanied me in many forms: visual art, crafts, music, photography, and writing. For me, creativity is not merely a means of expression, but a way of listening, processing, and giving words to life.

My church background could be described as “feet on the ground, head in the clouds.”

My life of faith has been shaped within three different church communities during different seasons of life. In 2022, following my move to Central Finland, I joined the Jyväskylä-based pentecostal Revival Fire church. Church community is an essential part of my life of faith: a place to grow, to put down roots, and to be nourished. Even though my calling takes me beyond denominational boundaries, a spiritual home is always necessary.

I am deeply drawn to people who live out of their calling and do what they do with passion. Over the course of life, my own passions have taken many forms, and they have also changed. In recent years, I have come to understand ever more clearly that my calling is connected to this: that faith can—and should—be spoken of as something lived, unfinished, and yet sustaining.

The Galloping Sheep (Laukkaava Lammas) was born on April 28, 2018, and has accompanied me through many phases. It has been a blog, a social media platform, and a “voice” in various forms. A deep inner journey that began in the autumn of 2021 brought one season to an end and opened a new one, also for the blog. Now Laukkaava Lammas is living once again in a new time—clearer, quieter, and yet perhaps bolder than ever.

In this blog, I write about faith, calling, growth, and God’s faithfulness through different stages of life. I write to you who are seeking and questioning—or already on the journey. I hope these texts encourage you to pause, to listen, and to notice: God is real, and He desires to be present in every person’s life, precisely in everyday life.
